Buying A New Motor Vehicle - Something That Is Tough To Do As A Father Or Mother
Parenting is a hard & demanding job. It's also a job that you cannot retire from. Even when your children are grown, living on their own & earning an income, you still feel a sense of accountability & a need to dispense advice. We have found that our kids are once again excited about our input. For a few years any-thing that we said held little or no value to our children but now that they have finished college & are taking on more responsibility for them-selves they are eager for advice - you can give them solid advice on a myriad of financial topics, like how to get rid of debt.
Our oldest son is very independent. We never had to help him get rid of debt. He has always been such the very hard worker & is the most sparing of our kids - that is why getting rid of debt was not ever an issue. He liked to save cash and is a great comparison shopper. He has never been one that has felt that it is imperative to have brand name clothes or shoes. He has an awfully practical side to him. Because of this I was surprised when he told me that he wanted to buy a new car. He has always been the one to speak about how speedily brand-new autos depreciate & how you not ever make up for that depreciation. When I brought that up to him he said that he did not care. He is making a good income & he has scrimped & saved his whole life, so he wants to buy a brand-new vehicle as a treat for the hard work he has done. He said that he knows that whenever he decides to get married and to begin a family he might not be able to afford to buy a brand-new vehicle so he wants to do it now.
I told my spouse about the chat I had with our son. My spouse was disappointed that our son would go in to debt for a brand-new vehicle. He thought there were alternative ways he could spend his cash. I told my spouse that at the start I felt the same way, but then I remember the first and only new vehicle that I purchased. It was entertaining to know that I was driving a vehicle that no-one else had driven. Once we were married & started our family we could not afford a new motor vehicle, we always bought program automobiles to get a better value and additional apparatus. After listening to me my spouse agreed that everybody should own at the least one brand-new vehicle in their lifetime.
A couple of weeks went by before our son drove up to our home in his new vehicle. He chose to buy a brand-new vehicle that is a hybrid. He is getting great gas mileage and the motor vehicle has a nice sporty feel and look to it. He said that the reports are positive for the vehicle to hold its resale value, & there are enough of the hybrid cars on the road so most of the bugs have been worked through. It is neat to see how proud he is of his aptitude to purchase a brand-new vehicle & save cash at the fuel pumps.
