The Army Traffic Safety Program, or ATSP, is a special program which is available for members of the military and approved civilians. In fact, this course is required for all Army personnel. It is basically designed for those who might be in dangerous driving situations being a part of their job. It also endeavors to strengthen a positive attitude towards driving. Very few people know about this program which shows evasion and defensive driving techniques. In addition, it instructs techniques that might be useful to use on a motorcycle, scooter, or even other forms of transportation.
These course are taught by private contractors. You can find them throughout the United States, Korea and Europe. You can only have the course if you are either a member of the military, or perhaps you are classified as a civilian who needs the course.
There are actually three progressive courses that each member of the army needs to take: the first is called Introductory Training Course I, this course tries to boost individual skills, confidence and a positive attitude. The courses available can include: Remedial Driver Training, Intermediate Driver Training Course, Motorcycle Basic Rider Course, Military Sport Bike Rider Course. If you have taken the fundamental Motorcycle courses, then you are qualified to take the Motorcycle Experienced Rider Course. If you only need a refresher, in addition they offer the Motorcycle Refresher Training. Not all of the courses are obtainable at every center.
