Can a portable DVD player run properly (enough autonomy) wih non rechargeable batteries?

It can run, if you have enough of them, but it is just not “economical” from a size and weight perspective, as well as the dollar cost of feeding it good alkaline cells.
Because of those economies I think you would be hard pressed to find an adequate player that can run on the power you want.
