Sorry I didn’t read your description, yeah pliers might work, if you haave to go to more esperate measures put it on two surfaces so the edges are on then bang the top so the batteries pop out of their holding.
press the button that is on the top of the battery pack, and that will open it up and you can remove the back. then shake it and then the batteries should come out.
i shake mine cos they are hard to get out, im going to invest in a play and charge kit about £14.99 or $30.00 and they charge up off you xbox via a usb lead.
Another idea is to pry it out with a screwdriver. If you do this, do it at the end, not the middle – this will push down the spring that holds the battery in place and pop it out.
So you don’t have to do this so often, check out the Energizer e2 Lithium batteries… they last soooo much longer! Expensive, but they’re worth it.
Pliers. Sometimes shaking doesn’t work, so I just grab my pliers, and yank them out.

there should be a place on the controller where there are screws untwist the screws and there you go
remove the pack from the pad and push the button on top, then pull the batteries
