If I buy rechargeable batteries does it matter which brand of charger I use?

The only important thing is to make sure the charger is compatible with the battery TECHNOLOGY. In other words, lithium-ion batteries require lithium-ion battery chargers. NiMh batteries require NiMh battery chargers. (NiCd also falls within the same technology as NiMh.)
Brand serves no function other than extra features or brand comfort for the customer, but functionally one brand is as good as another.
