Where can I get rechargeable batteries?

Panda.Bear213 asked:

My digital camera runs on batteries and it would be a lot easier if I could use rechargeable ones. But where can I get them? Also, do they last any longer then regular batteries?

If your camera uses AA batteries I would go with Sanyo’s Eneloop rechargeable batteries. They don’t suffer from self discharge problems that most rechargeables do.

As for life, I think they may last a bit less than top of the line alkaline batteries so you may wish to carry at least one set of spares with you at all times.

Edit … I would like to address the other answer. There is a possibility that rechargeable batteries might not work in your camera IF it wasn’t designed for it. However, the majority of name brand cameras like Canon, Fuji, Nikon, Kodak, etc all take both disposable AND rechargeable batteries. So unless you have a finicky camera that doesn’t like the lower voltage of rechargeable batteries you should not have a problem.

you will not be happy with rechargeable batteries!

You camera was designed for 3V (that is two standard batteries), rechargeable batteries are only 1.2V each, that means that your camera is expecting to see 3V but will only get 2.4V

This is usually the point where the camera or anyother device considers the batteries to be dead or near dead.

Your camera may also shift colors and refuse to allow the flash if the voltage is low.

And, no, there are no 1.5V rechargeable batteries.
